Theme: Zoom Buggy!(1st session) Dream Pillow (2nd session)

Begins September 2nd - 8th
Weekly 8 weeks, 45-min classes (parent/caregiver present)

Zoom Buggy!: Swoosh, vroom, and clickety-clack your way through this delightful unit. Babies and adults will dance, sing, and play instruments to the theme of being on the go. Chug around the room to the song "Little Red Caboose," hold on tightly while "Riding in the Buggy," and dance your way to "Zoom-e-oh!"
Dream Pillow: takes Baby into many upbeat and playful activities. Babiies and adults will swirl to a dreamy cloud dance, play instruments, and chant favorite nursery rhymes.

Hello Weather! Let's Play Together! Your child will be surrounded in a creative musical environment that integrates music, instrument play, pretend play, story telling, movement, and more. Sunshine, rain, snow, thunderstorms, and more in this imaginative and delightful weather-related musical adventure. Your child will create storm sounds with a drum, jump in pretend puddles, and more.

Listen as your child astonishes you with his newfound ability to create musical composition. For your budding musician, Kindermusik for the Young Child provides a pressure-free, developmentally appropriate transition where he can musically succeed before taking on more formal instruction. Using a small-group approach to music education, Kindermusik provides the opportunity to explore voice development, rhythm, notation, musical symbols and authentic pre-keyboard, string, and woodwind instruments. Over the sequential two-year program your child will study the clockenspiel, dulcimer, and recorder and will receive his/her own instruments to take home.

WHAT WILL WE DO IN CLASS AND WHY?

Singing fosters the development of your child's most important instrument, the voice, through vocal exploration, songs, and chants.

Moving develops body awareness, coordination, and spatial relationships through synchronized movement, creative movement, and simple dances.

Playing introduces a variety of musical timbres with percussion instruments such as rhythm sticks, jingle bells, drums, resonator bars, and simple instruments your child creates at home.

Creating stimulates your child's imagination and encourages new exploration with sound and movement.

Patterning boosts your child's ability to think musically through the integration of basic rhythmic and tonal language.

Listening cultivates your child's heightened attentiveness to sound discrimination.

Exploring timbre, dynamics, tempo, and pitch lays the foundation for conceptualization of the elements of music.
